January social network visitation data just released by Social Media News indicates a drop in Australian members for Facebook and Google Plus, however an increase in numbers across LinkedIn and WordPress.
Social Media News’ editor, David Cowling, suggests that the summer holiday period has an impact on the way Australians use social media platforms throughout this period, with business related networks like LinkedIn and WordPress dropping in December and then regaining numbers in January as offices reopen for the New Year and companies start posting or blogging again. Whereas sites which are primarily used for personal use or socialising see the opposite effect as users head back to work after holidays.
The stats below represent the number of active Australian users where possible, or unique Australian visitors (UAVs) to the site over January.
