When discussing digital and social media, do you often hear the terms: "long-term benefit" or "let's put a strategy in place"? Most likely you hear these statements often, possibly to the point of distraction. The nature of a social media campaign is one in which the benefits, or results, are known in months and years rather than days and weeks. However, there are a few simple things you can do today to increase your social media presence, that will only take up about 10 minutes of your time, and could lead to significant improvements for your company or client.
1. Add social media buttons to email signatures
Email remains the most popular and accessible way to communicate for the majority of business, despite the progress in mobile, social media and video calls. The fact that many people don't include their social media profiles in email signatures is a missed opportunity. By failing to add these icons to your signature you are overlooking an audience that is most likely interested in your updates. Updating email signatures requires only a couple of minutes of your time, and the outcome could earn you a valuable extra handful of social media followers.
2. Do a quick survey of your audience
Members of your social audience will be far more likely to share content that is relevant to them than meaningless posts. It's worthwhile to take out 10 minutes of your time to survey your social media followers and adjust or uphold content accordingly. There are many easy-to-use and free online survey tools available. Organic social growth is without doubt extremely valuable, and can be achieved with content that followers enjoy viewing, want to engage with and share to their own networks.
3. Add social media buttons to your website
An easy way to increase site traffic is to add social media buttons to your website content or articles. Take a few minutes to review your site content and decide which pages or content could benefit from either a follow or share button. Select which social networks you'd like to add buttons for; Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, etc. Buttons should be clearly identifiable at the top of pages so that content easy to access and share.
4. Brush up social media profiles
The days of a single profile picture drawing in social media crowds are in the past. These days, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest provide a range of ways you can add appeal to your profile to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible. You don't need high end design skills, but small things, such as making sure a logo fits as the profile picture, will take just a few minutes, and could mean the difference between an average social media presence and a great one.
