Yahoo! has unveiled their redesigned homepage, the first new look the company has seen in four years. The new design extends to mobile versions of the site as well and provides users with a more tailored and social experience in the hopes that they’ll stay longer on the site. The redesigned homepage is by no means a complete facelift however features a newsfeed which can be customized to your personal interests and an infinite scroll, which delivers more and more content as the user scrolls down, much like Twitter.
Users can also log in with their Facebook or Yahoo ID to view content shared by friends, aiming to make the site more frequently visited. The left side of the homepage remains a service directory while the right will feature utilities which can be customized, or removed, and Yahoo! is planning to display only two advertisements on the homepage. Yahoo! attracted 392 million visitors across the globe last month, according to comScore Inc., making it one of the most visited sites on the web.
The new homepage design was announced by CEO Marissa Mayer on the company’s official blog, describing the new look as “more intuitive and personal”, claiming the new Yahoo! experience is “all about your interests and preferences”.
